Making the Most of Every Opportunity
June 29, 2008
The scripture from Ephesians 5:15 and 16 teaches us to be very careful in how we live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because we live in evil times. As Christians we are urged to live lives of purpose, fulfilling the commandment to love God with our whole heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves. As we do, we waste less time, and become effective in our worship, relationships and work.
This is purposeful prioritizing… examining what the will of God is, setting our sights on the goal ahead, not giving into distraction. Another important issue is staying filled with the Holy Spirit. We can choose to fill our lives with almost anything or we can choose God’s presence. When we choose Him, we surrender in order to be empowered with the strength, peace and power of God. It is just what we need to conduct our lives in a way that satisfies our need to get things done and please God at the same time.
